A whisky commercial, twenty-four seconds, made out of three things almost any bar or kitchen already has: an ordinary heavy-bottomed whisky glass, one ice sphere, and a bottle of whisky. No studio, no crew, no set build, no product supplied by anyone. That is the whole point of it. If you run a bar, a restaurant, a shop or a practice, the thing already sitting on your shelf is the thing we shoot — and it comes back looking like this.
Thirteen to fourteen seconds each, vertical, one occasion apiece. Built to be read with the sound off — the captions carry the whole thing and the voice is a layer on top. Each is spoken by a different member of the family, not a narrator, and each ends the same way: Echoes of Life made it for us. No music in any of them; the sound is a single water drop and its echo, which strikes once on the end card.
A different kind of ad, and it breaks two of the rules above on purpose. It is silent apart from the voice — no water drop, not even on the end card — because the thing being sold is a photograph, and a photograph makes no sound. And it is spoken by the studio to the viewer rather than by a family member, because the footage is a studio demonstration piece rather than a client’s photograph: an invented relative reminiscing about an invented boy would be a fabricated testimonial. The studio speaks instead, and makes no claim about whose picture it is.
The photograph is held completely still for five and a half seconds, and then it moves for six. The stillness is what makes the movement land, so do not trim the front to make the ad shorter. Source footage is the bicycle demonstration piece on the photographs-in-motion page — the same clip, so an ad and the sample it points at show the same motion.
